A day of Embroidery with Jill Kipnis, this is a full day workshop where you can bring your own project something you might feel stuck on or for which you might like some advice from an expert, Jill can help you to move on and get back stuck in – any form of embroidery is welcome!
Or you might just like to try your hand at a new embroidery skill just let us know in advance what you might like to do and we will cater for it.
The day includes all refreshments, coffee/tea cake & biscuits, a lovely vegetarian lunch and desert and of course expert advice and tuition from Jill!
Jill apprenticed at The Royal School of Needlework, gaining a firm foundation in hand embroidery. She later earned a BA Hons in Textiles & Fashion, expanding her design knowledge and skills in free-motion machine embroidery, fabric manipulation and creative applications.
Embroidery is a beautiful craft, and Jill aims to inspire people at any level, Jill loves the challenge to help people turn “I can’t” into “I can.”Her goal is to inspire. She focuses on what students can achieve at any level.
Jill has written books about embroidery and has been interviewed several times on BBC Radio London to discuss embroidery and what it means. Jill published a book called The Hero’s Quilt that explored people’s connection to embroidery throughout the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdowns.
She has contributed articles to Stitch Magazine and delivered online talks to several national textile groups, including the Embroiderers’ Guild. She has also taught workshops at the Knit & Stitch shows and at the Stitch Festival.
Jill enjoys delivering lectures on all aspects of textiles and has developed a series, including one focused on helping students learn to design and build confidence in their work, which she has developed over several years.
Jill has taught lessons from her North London home for several years and has worked with regional groups nationwide. She provides expert tuition drawing on years of experience in embroidery and design.
Jill has work in the V&A collection and is a 25-year-plus fellow of The Royal School of Needlework.
Jill loves bringing people together through stitch and fabric.
