Botanical Drawing Classes with Mary MacCarthy Tuesday Evenings starting 24/02/2026

From Tuesday the 24/02/ 2026 Artist Mary MacCarthy will be teaching a Botanical Drawing Class from 7pm until 9pm at The Little School.
The class is suitable for anyone who would like to learn or improve their Botanical drawing skills or drawing skills in general
The course will run as a block of 6 sessions for £120 and will include refreshments coffee/tea/soft drinks and cake & biscuits
Mary studied Textile Design and Fine Art at Camberwell school of Art. On graduating she went to America and discovered American Folk Art – including the art of stencilling.
On her return to the Uk in 1972 she pioneered hand brushed stencilling and quickly gained a reputation amongst interior decorators for the fine and accurate design combined with a vibrant colour sense. Mary has authored 3 books on various aspects of design and also worked with Emma Bridgewater creating Bridgewater’s highly successful Rose Pattern sponge ware ceramics.
Mary now paints full time, taking inspiration from her garden, the beautiful gardens of her childhood home Wiveton Hall and the beautiful Norfolk Landscape.
Mary & Jolanda will run several classes on Botanical drawing, stencilling and stitching/embroidering throughout 2026, including life drawing and transferring drawings onto cloth in preparation for stitching and creating your own piece of Textile Art.
During the Summer months we will hold creative Textile Art classes in the garden at Scuderia.
Mary will curate a pack for the classes which will contain, a sketchbook, pencils etc ( you will be able to pick this up locally or at The little school prior to the start of the classes)
